Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Good hiking is available along the Big Spring Trail; don't forget to take a glorious little tour to Whisky Creek. This lake is so wonderful. What would winter be without some skiing at Squaw Valley; if you need a site to stay Squaw Valley Lodge is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Five       Lakes that you need to camp here for a while, Splitrock Campground is a magnificent site for that; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit close by Lake Estelle. What a spot this is for outdoors people. If the weather is beautiful, you obtain a delightful vista of KT-22 from Five Lakes. Lakes? Sure, Shirley Lake is in close proximity. Five Lakes really is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. Don't leave Five Lakes without                  first going for a hike along the Granite Chief Trail. So many cool things in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just striking. A great nearby hotel is Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn, and Alpine Meadows is a good place to check out. There's nice hiking along the Five Lakes Creek Trail; a good spot for whitewater paddling is Yuba River - South Fork. High temperatures at Five Lakes through the summertime months are in the 80's while night lows are ordinarily in the 40's. Throughout the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Five Lakes temperatures descend to the 10's. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Big Spring, and stunning scenery and good skiing is what you acquire at Alpine Meadows. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Five Lakes; the month with most of the snow is January while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
