A great nearby hotel       is Super 8 Motel - Bishop, and don't miss out on a trip to Devils Postpile National Monument while you're here. Lamarck Col is a great location to explore nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Kings River Trail. There's some flowing water nearby, Darwin Creek is a stream you can pop by during your stay; good hiking is available along the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section. And if that's not enough there's a load more exciting stuff to do in the Central                  Sierra Nevada. You can run the rapids of San Joaquin River - South Fork close to Fishgut Lakes; camping at Fishgut Lakes is great fun, Sabrina Campground is a great local campground. Summertime highs at Fishgut Lakes commonly tend to be in the 90's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and night lows in the 20's for Fishgut Lakes. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place.
