     Just can't get enough of Fernandez Lakes. Very striking scenery and great skiing is what you get at Badger Pass; there are some tremendous whitewater spots on Merced River - South Fork. Fernandez Lakes is a beautiful lake in the Central Sierra Nevada. If you came to camp Upper Chiquito Campground is a great place to do that, and you're most likely keen on lakes, Blackie Lake is one of those close by.
The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's
 
   to Fernandez Lakes, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's while Fernandez Lakes overnight low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's. Fernandez Lakes gets a typical amount of rainfall; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is magnificent here at Fernandez Lakes, you can go for  
               a hike along the Clouds Rest Trail; Yosemite National Park is a wonderful site nearby.
After a long day outdoors dnc -- Wawona Hotel is a good place to spend a night or two, and of course, this is a tremendous area for people who like lakes, Ruth Lake is a lake around here. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Central Sierra Nevada. The John Muir Trail - section 1 is a pleasant hiking trail next to Fernandez Lakes; Fernandez Lakes is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Bowler Group Campground is a tremendous local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Near Fernandez Lakes you stumble on the Half Dome Trail which is a good hiking trail; there's some flowing water close by, Fernandez Creek is a stream you can check out while here.
So many cool things to do in the Central Sierra Nevada, not enough time. Gale Peak can be observed from Fernandez Lakes, and Fernandez Pass is a good location to spend some time. So much enjoyable stuff to do at Fernandez Lakes, so little time. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend San Joaquin River - Middle Fork, and a brilliant close by hotel is The Ahwahnee.
