California has many beautiful lakes and Fern Lake is one of them. But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Don't forget to take a great little tour to Miller Creek, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Fern Lake; Highland Trail is a magnificent local trail. Fern Lake is right by the Loon Lake Trail, and probably you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Buck Island Lake is just a very short distance away.

| | is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Squaw Valley Lodge; the skiing at Alpine Meadows is great. Red Wolf Lodge at Squaw Valley is a wonderful spot to get some rest, and Homewood is a good local ski area. Having a good time at Fern Lake is uncomplicated. Why not camp at Wentworth Springs Campground if you're here at Fern Lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the McKinstry Trail.

Nevada. The amount of precipitation that falls at Fern Lake is close to the national average; the wettest month of the year is ordinarily January, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest of the months is July. Having a
wonderful time in the Northern Sierra Nevada is easy. Camping is available at Pleasant Boat-In Campground; there are some glorious whitewater spots on American River - South Fork.
At Fern Lake during the warm months highs are
in the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and nighttime lows at Fern Lake during the wintertime commonly descend into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Silver Creek - South Fork, and Rubicon Springs is always fun to check out.
