This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Fern Lake without first going for a hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail, and Anona Lake is a perfect lake nearby. The annual rain here at Fern Lake is about average; the month with most of the rain is January; the driest month is June. Camping is available at Minaret Falls Campground; if the weather is pretty, you get a pleasant view of Granite Stairway from Fern Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A gorgeous lake like

| | Gertrude Lake near Fern Lake is a nice spot to pop by, and why not camp at Reds Meadow Campground since you're here at Fern Lake. Yeah, come up here to the Central Sierra Nevada for a pleasant time. Going for a hike on the John Muir Trail - section 2 is always a pleasant adventure, and after a long day outdoors Mammoth Mountain Inn is a great place to spend a night or two. is just what you need, and you can go for a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail. Be careful coming to the Central Sierra Nevada, you might not ever wanna go back home again. If you need a place to stay Snowbird Condos at Mammoths Canyon
Lodge is a good choice, and Stairway Meadow is a glorious place. At Fern Lake during the warm months highs are in the 90's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's, and overnight
lows through the wintertime for Fern Lake tend to be in the 20's. Mono Creek has a splendid whitewater paddling spot close by. The snow is magnificent at June Mountain, and in the event that you don’t have a problem getting covered
with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Joaquin River - Middle Fork. This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Sierra Nevada.
