Fern Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at 1849 Condos at Mammoths Canyon Lodge; San Joaquin River - Middle Fork has a nice whitewater paddling spot nearby. Just can't get enough of the Central Sierra Nevada. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by June Mountain, and a splendid spot to camp here at Fern Lake is Reds Meadow Campground. Fern Lake is

Stairway Meadow is a pretty place any time of year, and camping at Minaret Falls Campground is always a good experience. And that's not everything you can do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. for a hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail, and after a long day outdoors Snowbird Condos at Mammoths Canyon Lodge is a great spot to spend a night or two.
This lake is so wonderful. You can see Granite Stairway from Fern Lake,
and the snow is great at Mammoth Mountain. Go for a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail, of course you could also pop by Johnston Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Fern Lake is a good place of typical rainfall; the wettest month
of the year is commonly January, that's the one that rains the most while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Summer brings highs in the 90's to Fern Lake, and the night is a tad colder of course, typically
in the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Fern Lake. A lake close by is Anona Lake.
