If you are in Tehama county it's always a good idea to stop by Elk Lake. Elk Lake gets a typical amount of yearly precipitation; the wettest month of the year is commonly January, that's the one that rains the most, and July is the month with the least moisture. Now, you may think that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Elk Lake. There is a glorious hiking trail close to Elk Lake called the Ides Cove National Recreation Trail, and

Black Butte River is a great whitewater spot near Elk Lake, and camping at Elk Lake is wonderful fun, Hammerhorn Campground is a wonderful local campground.

At Elk Lake all through the summertime months highs are in the 90's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures
