If you need a place to stay Super 8 Willits is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. If you come at the right time of year, Black Butte River offers some wonderful whitewater, and you can go for a hike on the Ides Cove National Recreation Trail. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Thomes Creek, and everyone loves Slanes Flat. So many exciting things to do in the Klamath Mountains, not       enough time. Kingsley Lake is a glorious lake in the vicinity of Elk Lake, and the sight of Hammerhorn Mountain is pretty. So much cool stuff to do at Elk Lake, so little time. A good place to camp here at Elk Lake is Little Doe Campground; going for a hike on the French Trail is always a glorious adventure. Elk Lake is a good place of common rainfall; the month with most of the rain is January while July is mostly the driest month. Summer at Elk Lake comes with                  high temperatures in the 90's while nighttime lows are regularly in the 50's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 40's, and night lows during the wintertime for Elk Lake tend to be in the 30's. This lake is located in the wonderful Klamath Mountains. A lovely lake like Minnie Lake close to Elk Lake is a fine spot to explore, and don't leave Elk Lake without first going for a hike along the Smoke Howe Trail. This place, the Klamath Mountains, has so much outdoors exciting things.
