Elk Lake is a nice lake to visit. Going for a hike on the Low Gap Trail is always a good adventure, and Butte Fork Applegate River is one of the streams nearby that might be worth visiting. A glorious nearby hotel is Best Western Inn At The Rogue. Be careful coming to the Klamath Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. Not far from Elk Lake, you'll hit upon Echo Lake which is a delightful lake, and while you're here why not pop by Echo Canyon.

| | The amount of precipitation that falls at Elk Lake is close to the national average; the month with most of the rain is December, and the driest month is July. This lake is so wonderful. The Horse Camp Trail is a pleasant hiking trail right next door to Elk Lake; camping is available at Hutton Campground. Yeah, come up here to the Klamath Mountains for a nice time. Creek Klamath Tributary, and do set aside some time for Cameron Meadow while you're here at Elk Lake. And that's not all you can do here at Elk Lake. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Kangaroo Spring, and the top of Cook
and Green Butte is easily spotted from Elk Lake. High temperatures at Elk Lake through the summertime months are in the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. Highs through the wintertime
are frequently in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Elk Lake are in the 20's. Butte Fork Slide is an interesting spot to stop by while at Elk Lake, and you can run the rapids of Klamath River.
