The beauty of Elbert Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Sierra Nevada. A common amount of rainfall falls here at Elbert Lake; the wettest month of the year is typically January, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month is July. | | Firs Campground is a great location to do that. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Elbert Lake is not the only place nearby, Dardanelles Lake is a nearby lake, and there's great hiking along the Charity Valley Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Elbert Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Alpine Campground is a splendid site for that. Everybody close by loves skiing at Sierra at Tahoe, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on
American River - South Fork. Man, is there loads of amusing things to do close to Elbert Lake. Good hiking is available along the Hawley Grade Trail; whitewater paddling is splendid on Mokelumne River - North Fork. This lake is so
wonderful. Here at Elbert Lake there are plenty of folks from Gardnerville Ranchos; if you've had enough of Elbert Lake, Round Lake is close by. During the warm days of summer here at Elbert Lake, high temperatures mostly get
into the 70's while night lows are frequently in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Elbert Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. That right there is plenty of entertaining
stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Elbert Lake; Burnside Lake Trail is a great local trail, and Kirkwood is a nice local ski area. This lake is so wonderful.
Bryan Meadow is a fine place to check out, and don't forget to take a perfect little visit to Big Meadow Creek. A good close by hotel is Harvest Inn-St Helena, Napa Valley, and on a wonderful day you can have a look at Benwood Meadow, a swamp near Elbert Lake.
