If you are traveling by, why not stop by Downey Lake. Downey Lake is located in the Northern Sierra Nevada. What a location this is for outdoors people. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Fordyce Creek; after a long day outdoors Deer Creek Inn is a perfect site to spend a night or two. Now, you may think that's lots but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Why not camp at Grouse Ridge Campground since you're here at Downey

| | Lake; you can hit the slopes at Royal Gorge close by.
Camping at Downey Lake is great fun, Canyon Creek Campground is a great local campground, obviously you could also visit Crooked Lakes while you're here; it's not far at all. There are some pleasant whitewater spots on Yuba River - South Fork, and going for a hike on the Glacier Lakes Trail is always a great adventure. This lake is so wonderful. worth checking out, and Soda Springs is a very popular ski area nearby.
All through the summer months at Downey Lake temperatures are regularly in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 40's. During the wintertime
the highs are commonly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Downey Lake are in the 20's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Downey Lake a wet site; most of the rain falls through January; July is the month with the
least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Here at Downey Lake you'll almost certainly meet some people from Truckee-Grass Valley; close by you come across the Crooked Lakes Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail.

many cool things in one place! The Northern Sierra Nevada is great! Go for a hike on the Round Lake Trail, and Haystack Mountain is a peak you can catch a sight of from Downey Lake. If you need a site to stay Chalet View Lodge is a perfect choice.
