This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby June Mountain. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. Bighorn Lake is a nearby lake that you could explore, and don't miss out on a spree to Devils Postpile National Monument since you're here. At Lake Dorothy you don’t see much precipitation; during January this area sees the most rain, and June       on the other hand is the driest. You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If you need a place to stay Mammoth Creek Inn is a good choice, and splendid skiing awaits you at Mammoth Mountain. So many fun things in the Central Sierra Nevada, just striking. Whitewater paddling is great on Mono Creek, and why not camp at Upper McGee Creek Campground while you're here at Lake Dorothy.
