Don't leave Dixon Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Magee Trail, and you're in all probability keen on lakes, Hideaway Lake is one of those close by. So much cool stuff to do here in the Santa Rosa Mountains, too perfect to be true. Go for a hike on the Gomez Trail; people from San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos love to come here. Man, is there lots of enjoyable stuff to do in the Santa Rosa Mountains. Get       covered with water paddling on Escondido Creek, and dry warm beds await you at Rodeway Inn Escondido. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Americas Best Value Inn & Suites/Escondido is a tremendous choice, and Woods Valley Golf Club is a golf course close by. High temperatures at Dixon Reservoir during the summertime are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 60's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 60's while                  the cold winter nights at Dixon Reservoir are in the 40's. At Dixon Reservoir you don’t see much rainfall; January is when you get the most rain here, and July is when it's the driest. This lake is one of the great places here in the Santa Rosa Mountains. Going for a hike on the Mission Trail is always a fine adventure, and probably you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Lake Wohlford is just a very short distance away. A visit to Cabrillo National Monument is worthwhile, and a good spot to camp here at Dixon Reservoir is Oakvale Park. This lake is so wonderful.
