East Meadows Campground - Tahoe National Forest
East Meadows has been a favorite since my first trip. The area is full of natural attractions. A favorite is to go sit in the small waterfalls just a short hike from the campsite. Beaware that because of the elevation, the campground does not open Memorial Day like most (although they will let you make reservations during that weekend), it's usually still covered in snow until the middle of June. However, once you get there you will see what a couple extra weeks of snow will bring in beauty to the surroundings....

Forbes Creek Rocky Ridge - Tahoe National Forest
The best place to have a family reunion!!! We have made a tradition of it! Every year same place same time! LOVE IT! It has a lake near by and penty of bbq pits for the whole camping group whether its 10 of 50! The community campfire and dinnig area makes a great place to catch up with everyone. I just wish I could find a better map!
Thank you!...

Shirttail Creek - Tahoe National Forest
Because there is a Shirttail Creek Campground, also in Tahoe National Forest, there should probably be a map shown on this website. The Shirtail Creek Campground is at Sugar Pine Reservoir near Foresthill, close enough to be confusing....

American River - North Fork
13 miles away
This is an isolated and demanding run. The river itself dosen't pose too many problems to the skilled padler, but the rugged isolation cane give you a bad day in a hurry. I've made this run many times but I am always prepared, make sure you have a WFR with you, in the crux of the gorge (three miles) there's no getting a seriously injured person out without aid. I've run nearly every published river in Ca. and then some, experience is the best teacher...

Fuller Lake Campground
18 miles away
NID has never allowed swimming in Fuller Lake....Sorry - there is only a Day Use area at Fuller Lake. There hasn't been camping on that lake for nearly 11 years. While the fishing is great, you can't stay there after the sun sets. And there is limited fire material for making BBQ fires. better to go further up Bowman Road....I drove up there today (8/10/06), and there is only a day use only area....
