A visit to Devils Oven Lake is always a good idea. Places like Round Valley are pleasant to explore, and the snow is splendid at Donner Ski Ranch. All the water falling down from the sky makes Devils Oven Lake a wet site; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Basin Peak is easy to spot from Devils Oven Lake, and why not head up to Boreal and strap some skis to your feet. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. While
you're here at Devils Oven Lake you can take a hike along the Lola Montez Trail, and Yuba River - South Fork is a delightful whitewater spot nearby. If you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on
Fordyce Creek. Summertime highs at Devils Oven Lake usually tend to be in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Through the winter highs are regularly in the 40's, and night lows through
the winter for Devils Oven Lake tend to be in the 20's.
