you might not ever want to go back home again. Camping at Eagle Falls Campground is always a great experience, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Red Peak Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Meeks Bay Resort

Lake Number Three
Lake #3 lies a couple of miles inside the Desolation Wilderness Boundary. Upon arrival, you find yourself along a lake which is beautifully cradled against the Crystal mountain range. On a clear day, you can see well into the Sacramento Valley and beyond. Clear days in the valley are few and far between in the summer though. Absolutely beautiful destination for a hike....
Grouse Lake
Great hiking, the trail starts at Wrights Lake, which is a beautiful lake in its own right, and heads up. If your looking for a good walking trail I would suggest staying on the Wrights Lake ''loop'' trail that circles the lake. But if you want a good hiking/climbing trail the Grouse Lake hike is the one for you. Even in late August the wild flowers were still in bloom and when you reach the top you cannot ask for better views of the surrounding area. From certain points in the trail you can see Ice House Lake as well as looking down on Wrights Lake. I am a bit on the older side so I stop and rest 3-4 times on the way up and it took me a little over 2 hours to reach the top, the last 10-15 minutes were rather steep, but well worth it. There are 2 more lakes beyond Grouse Lake that are an easy walk....
Pearl Lake
Pearl Lake is the most beautiful, ittle lake you could ever camp or fish at. When you park your vehicle at Wrights Lake and hike past Beauty towards Pearl, you will have officially crossed into Desloation Wilderness...and God's country!...

Round Lake
16 miles away This small ''round'' lake is the beginning of the ''Upper Truckee River'' which flows into Lake Tahoe, and the outflow is known simply as the ''Truckee River'' which ends up flowing into Pyramid Lake, in Nevada. Compared to further south in the Sierra Nevada range the local scenery is not as majestic but is indeed pretty, easy to hike and unlike very high altitude locations, offers better campsites. The lake contains one species of trout, the Lahontan Cutthroat. Back in the early 1970's I managed to catch and release a couple dozen specimens weighing between one and two pounds. The fish are classically well-marked and the flesh is a pronounced pink. I have found over several trips that the lake fish are harder to catch than the fish in the outflow canyon. ...
