This lake is so wonderful. So many enjoyable things to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada, not enough time. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Kern River; Cottonwood Lakes is great enough to spend more than a day at, Tuttle Creek Campground is a great local campground. You simply have to adore Cottonwood Lakes. Camping at Locust Grove Campground is always       a delightful experience, and the sight of lovely Cirque Peak is fine. For the period of the months of summer at Cottonwood Lakes temperatures are mostly in the 90's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 50's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Cottonwood Lakes temperatures drop to the 20's. Cottonwood Lakes is a location that is reasonably dry usually; the month of January is the wettest with most                  of the rain, and the driest of the months is October.
