     This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Cotton Lake is pretty dry frequently; January is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month is June. Do set aside some time for Horse Heaven while you're here at Cotton Lake.
Having a brilliant time at Cotton Lake is painless. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by close by Tully Lake, and going for a hike on the Sherwin Lakes Trail is always a
 
   delightful adventure. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are delightful; Izaak Walton Lake is a lake that's near Cotton Lake, and you obtain a perfect view of Mount Izaak Walton from here. That right there is plenty of fun things already but it goes on, the Central Sierra Nevada has it all. The slopes of June Mountain are so inviting nobody can resist, and a glorious close by hotel is Mammoth Creek Inn.
You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the
 
               cool things in the Central Sierra Nevada. After a long day outdoors Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada is a nice site to spend a night or two, and Cotton Lake is a good spot to visit for more than one day, Upper McGee Creek Campground is a good spot to camp nearby. Mammoth Mountain is a splendid local ski area, and whitewater paddling is delightful on Mono Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Get covered with water paddling on San Joaquin River - South Fork, and Devils Postpile National Monument is a very perfect site to explore.
Upper Vermillion Campground is a splendid campground nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail. At Cotton Lake throughout the days of summer highs are in the 70's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are frequently in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Cotton Lake are in the 20's.
