You truly have to adore the Central Sierra Nevada. A glorious site for whitewater paddling close to Convict Lake is Mono Creek, and if you have the time, Devils Postpile National Monument is a national park worth a visit. Man, is there heaps of fun things to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. Why not camp at Crowley Lake Campland while you're here at Convict Lake, and hiking along the Mammoth Rock Trail       is tremendous fun. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent place to camp here at Convict Lake is Upper McGee Creek Campground, and San Joaquin River - South Fork is a great whitewater spot close by. Convict Lake in fact is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. After a long day outdoors Mammoth Creek Inn is a great place to spend a night or two, and Snowcreek Golf Course is a golf course nearby. At Convict Lake through the summer highs are in the                  70's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Convict Lake are in the 20's. Really tremendous skiing awaits you at June Mountain; do take a hike on the Sherwin Lakes Trail. Convict Lake is a location that is relatively dehydrated usually; the wettest month of the year is regularly January, that's the one that rains the most, and June is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. One of the overriding traits of the surroundings of Convict Lake is Mono Jim Peak, and you can never get enough of the fine skiing at Mammoth Mountain. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful.
