     Be careful coming to Coleman Reservoir, you might not ever wanna return back home again. Coleman Reservoir is right next door to Coleman Canyon which is without doubt worth stopping at, and there's whitewater on Arroyo Seco River for all you adrenaline people. At Coleman Reservoir through the days of summer highs are in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. High temperatures all through the winter are normally in the 60's; during the dark  
   hours in the winter at Coleman Reservoir temperatures fall to the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Lower Stoney Creek Reservoir is a nearby lake that you could pop by; after a long day outdoors Quality Inn King City is a wonderful spot to spend a night or two.
You'll beyond doubt wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Santa Lucia Range. If you're interested in hydro structures, you can visit Coleman Reservoir Dam; going for
 
               a hike on the Gamboa Trail is always a nice adventure. Coleman Reservoir gets very little rain; January is the month that gets the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. If you fancy the outdoors you'll fancy it here in the Santa Lucia Range. While you're here at Coleman Reservoir, you could also visit stunning Milpitas Reservoir; nearby you stumble on the Girard Trail which is a great hiking trail.
Coleman Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Santa Lucia Range. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Coleman Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Miguel Campground. There are some great whitewater spots on San Antonio, and if you need a site to stay Days Inn King City is a pleasant choice.
There's so much to do here at Coleman Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, San Lorenzo Park is a great place for that; the Arroyo Seco Trail is a delightful hiking trail close by.

Nacimiento River

I have lived on this portion of the river for 15 years. Although you could probaly put a canoe in the river on Fort Hunter Ligget with permission from Range Control, it would be very difficult to get past the rock formations at the Shut In. There is no public access to the Nacimiento River near Turtle Creek. One would have to go all the way to Lake Nacimiento to find a legal exit. Surface flow usually stops around the end of June, and the river turns into a series of pools. Even when the water is flowing in the spring, there are significantly long sections that would require one to portage. If one were to attempt this trip, they will be walking more than paddling, and it would be a very long day....
