If you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express YREKA-SHASTA AREA is a good choice, and do take a hike on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 18. Barton Lake is a nearby lake that you could take a look at, and Drop Rock is clearly visible from Cloak Lake. This lake is so wonderful. | | month of December is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is July. Camping at Cove Mobile Villa is always a wonderful experience, and a lake nearby is Salt Lake. Cloak Lake truly is in the middle of a beautiful outdoors paradise. If you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Shasta River, and a brilliant nearby hotel is Quality Inn & Suites Weed. For this particular mountain, the typical route is known as a ''herd path'' which is not much more than a worn, but unmarked trail. Some of the herd paths are easy to follow, others are not. In many instances the hiker will travel down a false herd path and eventually have to correct his/her course via backtracking. Mt. Ashland
 | 29 miles away 3 PHOTOS If you can ski Mt. Ashland, you can ski anywhere, is a boast locals in southern Oregon have made for 45 years. It is true; Mt. Ashland offers plenty of adventure for both skiers and riders. The ski area is located about a half an hour drive from the charming town of Ashland, home to the world renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At 7,500 feet, Mt. Ashland is the highest point in the Siskiyou mountain range. Its north facing slopes collect an average 300 inches of snowfall annually. The ski area offers 23 trails in addition to chute skiing and boarding in its famous bowl. All trails are easily accessed by 4 chairlifts.
