Going for a hike on the Spaulding Lake Trail is always a great adventure, and if you came for an overnight stay Silver Tip Campground is a wonderful place to camp. From Chubb Lake you obtain a perfect vista of Brady Mountain, and unsurprisingly Fordyce Creek is a beautiful stream that is worth checking out. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra       Nevada. For the period of the summer at Chubb Lake highs are usually in the 80's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Chubb Lake fall into the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Soda Springs; if you come at the right time of year, Fordyce Creek offers some                  good whitewater. Chubb Lake in fact is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. After a long day outdoors Deer Creek Inn is a good location to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Gonelson Canyon is a good place to visit near Chubb Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Yuba River - South Fork. Nearby lakes? Sure, Twin Lakes is near Chubb Lake, and there are wonderful places to explore along the Grouse Ridge Trail. People from Truckee-Grass Valley love to come to Chubb Lake; Royal Gorge is a very popular ski area close by. If you want a wonderful time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Northern Sierra Nevada. You could also stop at Lake Valley Reservoir if you're here at Chubb Lake; it's close by, and Pierce Meadow is a great location to check out. Chubb Lake ordinarily gets a great deal of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is January, and the driest of the months is July. What a spot this is for outdoors folks.
