This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. Pierce Meadow is a splendid site, and the snow is glorious at Soda Springs. Throughout the summer months highs here at Chubb Lake get into the 80's, and the night is slightly colder of course, frequently in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the       40's, and overnight lows in the 20's for Chubb Lake. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Lake Valley Reservoir, and great hiking is available along the Mears Lake Valley Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You might want to pay a visit to Gonelson Canyon while you're here at Chubb Lake, and don't leave Chubb Lake without first going for a hike along the Grouse Ridge Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There are wonderful                  locations to explore along the Spaulding Lake Trail; not far from Chubb Lake you'll stumble on Twin Lakes which is a beautiful lake. Stay the night at Lake Spaulding Campground; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Royal Gorge. During your trip to Chubb Lake you'll meet some people from Truckee-Grass Valley for sure, and if you come at the right time of year, Yuba River - South Fork offers some wonderful whitewater. All the outdoors cool things in the Northern Sierra Nevada will keep you coming back time and again. The peak of Brady Mountain can be seen from Chubb Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Fordyce Creek.
