A great site for whitewater paddling next to Chiquita Lake is American River - South Fork, and naturally, this is a great neighborhood for folks who like lakes, Oxbow Reservoir is a lake in close proximity. Summer brings highs in the 90's to Chiquita Lake; the nighttime is somewhat cooler of course, mostly in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at       Chiquita Lake are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. Get your heart beating on the brilliant whitewater of American River - Middle Fork, and don't leave Chiquita Lake without first going for a hike along the Nevada Point Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Ralston Campground is always a tremendous experience, and Albert Shafsky House Bed And Breakfast is a fine place to get some rest.
