     The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Chief Lake has to offer, you can camp at Vermilion Campground. Going for a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail is always a wonderful adventure; a lake nearby is Squaw Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Everybody nearby loves skiing at Mammoth Mountain, and paddling on San Joaquin River - South Fork is so much fun. Yep, outdoors exciting things truly is abundant
 
   here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Dry warm beds await you at Mammoth Creek Inn, and don’t forget to explore Horse Heaven while you're here at Chief Lake. Looking for a tremendous journey? Devils Postpile National Monument is quite near Chief Lake, and whitewater paddling is good on Mono Creek.
If you want a great time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Central Sierra Nevada. Near Chief Lake you stumble on the Sherwin Lakes Trail which is a magnificent
 
               hiking trail, and if you get bored of Chief Lake you could also visit nearby Papoose Lake. If you want a good time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Chief Lake. Chief Lake is a glorious place to visit for more than one day, Upper Vermillion Campground is a glorious place to camp nearby; Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada is a great place to get some rest. Chief Lake is mostly a rather waterless place; January is the wettest month with most rain; the driest of the months is June.
The warmest time of the year at Chief Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's with night lows in the 40's. For the period of the winter highs are in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Chief Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Gotta ski! June Mountain is a pleasant location to do that, and close by you locate Goodale Pass which is a perfect spot to go to.
