This lake is located in the wonderful Central Sierra Nevada. There are some wonderful whitewater spots on San Joaquin River - South Fork, and camping at Chevaux Lake is great fun, Mosquito Flat Campground is a great local campground. This lake is so wonderful. Since you're here at Chevaux Lake why not have a look at French Canyon, naturally you could also have a look at Alsace Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Summer       brings highs in the 70's to Chevaux Lake. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Chevaux Lake are in the 20's. Devils Postpile National Monument is a good national park; there's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Mammoth Mountain. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing things at Chevaux Lake. Chevaux Lake is a                  fine place to camp, North Lake Campground is a fine place. Chevaux Lake is pretty dried out generally; through the month of January you get the most rain around here, and June is when it's the driest. Just can't get enough of the Central Sierra Nevada.
