For the duration of the warm days of summer at Cherry Lake temperatures are usually in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's with temperatures at Cherry Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. This lake is one of the great places here in the Central Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. The great folks of Phoenix Lake-Cedar Ridge like to hang out nearby;

The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Badger Pass; not far from Cherry Lake you obtain some glorious water scenery at Cherry Valley Dam. But wait, there's more to do next to Cherry Lake. Lake Eleanor is a nearby lake that you could stop at, and Cherry Lake is right by the Pilot Ridge Trail. and everyone loves Wilson Meadow. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the Central Sierra Nevada has to offer. Camping at Cherry Valley Campground is always a perfect experience, and a lake nearby is Jawbone
Pass Pond. Cherry Lake is a wet location that gets a good deal of precipitation; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available
at Middlefork Campground; paddling on Tuolumne River - South Fork is so much fun. Having a brilliant time in the Central Sierra Nevada is trouble-free. Dodge Ridge is a very popular ski area in the vicinity, and whitewater paddling is great on Cherry Creek - West Fork.

 | 18 miles away Saw a rattlesnake on the track leading to the reservoir....I was up there two weeks ago- 10-18-09,came in the back way(dirt road) and there were fish feeding up at the surface but did not have a pole so could not try my hand. Looked promising though- going back this weekend....Go to the back side by where the river runs in... MURDER the trout on that end. Yes they do stock but it depends on what side of the lake you go to. If you have a 4x4 and a forest service map you can get to the good spots....Absolutely beautiful view, but there are thousands of mosquitoes, bring bug spray... |
