After a long day outdoors Pine Cone Acre Motel is a wonderful site to spend a night or two, and don't leave Channel Lake without first going for a hike along the Windmiller Trail. There's magnificent hiking along the General Creek Trail, and a wonderful lake like American Lake is a pleasant spot to have a look at. The yearly rainfall here at Channel Lake is about average; all through January this area sees the most snow, and July is       the month with the least moisture. Do set aside some time for Desolation Valley since you're here at Channel Lake; get wet paddling on Silver Creek - South Fork. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Channel Lake, and the night is somewhat chillier of course, frequently in the 40's. During the wintertime highs are generally in the 40's, and night lows all through the wintertime for Channel Lake tend to be in the 10's. You absolutely should go for the Northern                  Sierra Nevada. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Sierra at Tahoe, and one of the dominant highlights of the surroundings of Channel Lake is Cracked Crag. This lake is so wonderful. Go for a hike on the Hawley Grade Trail, and if you need a place to stay Pistantes Coyote Den is a brilliant choice. What a place this is for outdoors people. Channel Lake is a great site to visit for more than one day, Lovers Leap Campground is a great site to camp nearby; time spent at Kiva Beach is always pleasant. Channel Lake truly is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. Kirkwood has delightful slopes and a friendly staff, and paddling on American River - South Fork is so much fun. So many cool things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada, too delightful to be true. Put some time aside to spend at Horsetail Falls if you're here at Channel Lake. Man, is there a heap of enjoyable stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. You'll find a beautiful lake called Desolation Lake near Channel Lake, and during your stay here do check out close by Baldwin Beach. Sayles Flat Campground is a glorious local campground, and there are plenty of people from Gardnerville Ranchos here at Channel Lake.
