Pacific Crest Trail - section 18
 | 14 miles away Roundtrip Distance 15.2 miles Elevation Gain 2,232 ft. This peak is trailless, meaning a portion or all of the route up the mountain is via an unmarked trail. In many instances the hiker will travel down a false herd path and eventually have to correct his/her course via backtracking. For these particular mountains, it is imperative that the hiker carry a compass (and know how to use it) and topographic map.... |

It can only be run at the few times there is enough water and for a large part of the run, barb wire, willow thickets in the channel and recluses with shotguns are the main obstacles. Only the last few miles has whitewater of note and it is challenging. I ran this section in the mid eighties and claim along with my buddies Kent Erskine and Max Linn a first descent.... |
