This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. If you're dropping by Catfish Lake from Truckee-Grass Valley, you won't be the only one, and get your pulse rate up on the fine whitewater of Yuba River - South Fork. Now, you may assume that's loads but there's even more amusing things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Don't leave Catfish Lake without first going for a hike

along the Bowman Mountain Trail, naturally you could also pop by Jackson Lake while you're here; it's not far at all.
What a location this is for outdoors folks. There are brilliant locations to look at along the Glacier Lakes Trail; hey, French Creek is a good local stream. This lake is so wonderful. Royal Gorge has wonderful slopes and a friendly staff; if you came for an overnight stay Silver Tip Campground is a magnificent site to camp. Catfish Lake truly is in the middle of a pretty outdoors paradise. Nearby lakes? Sure, Echo Lake is in the vicinity of Catfish Lake.
And if that's not enough there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. After a long day outdoors Chalet View Lodge is a great site to spend a night or two, and don't leave Catfish Lake without first paying a visit to Damfine Spring. There's brilliant hiking along the Crooked Lakes Trail, and a journey to Jackson Meadows revitalizes the spirit. Catfish Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; January is the wettest month with most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture.
