There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Get covered with water paddling on Yuba River - South Fork, and why not camp at Cold Springs Campground if you're here at Catfish Lake. Catfish Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; all through January this area sees the most rain while July is mostly the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Float down the rapids       of Fordyce Creek in a kayak; a beautiful lake like Jerry Lake is a wonderful spot to stop at. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada, not enough time. A day on the slopes of Soda Springs is just what you need, and lakes are such peaceful spots, why not check out Derry Lake. Webster Flat is a perfect spot to stretch your legs a bit. Near Catfish Lake you discover the Lola Montez Trail which is a splendid hiking trail, and Sterling                  Lake Campground is a splendid local campground. So much amusing stuff to do at Catfish Lake, so little time. The Loch Leven Trail is a wonderful hiking trail right next door to Catfish Lake, and a great nearby hotel is Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is brilliant here at Catfish Lake, you can go for a hike along the Glacier Lakes Trail, and the snow is wonderful at Royal Gorge. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Catfish Lake while night lows are commonly in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at Catfish Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
