All year is a magnificent time in the Central Sierra Nevada if you have a thing about the outdoors. Mammoth Mountain Inn is a good location to get some rest; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always take a look at close by Emily Lake.

Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's with temperatures at Castle Lake dipping down into the 20's during winter nights. Life's too short to enjoy all the

entertaining things in the Central Sierra Nevada. Dry warm beds await you at Heidelberg Inn; get dripping wet paddling on Mono Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Sherwin Lakes Trail is pleasant fun. There's so much to do here at Castle Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Minaret Falls Campground is a delightful site for that. You just have to go for Castle Lake. Whitewater paddling is delightful on San Joaquin River - Middle Fork, and the John Muir Trail - section 2 offers hiking at its best.
This lake is so wonderful. Looking for some flowing water? Try Shadow Creek; if you came to camp Reds Meadow Campground is a tremendous site to do that. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Mammoth Mountain if you're here. Lakes? Sure, Vivian lake is in close proximity.
