Castaic Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. Through the summertime months here at Castaic Lake, high temperatures commonly reach the 80's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and night lows in the 30's for Castaic Lake. That right there is plenty of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Sierra Madre has it all. Don't leave Castaic Lake without first going for a hike along
the Warm Springs Trail, naturally you could also check out Elderberry Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. A great place to visit close to Castaic Lake is Grasshopper Canyon, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Piru Creek.
This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the magnificent whitewater of Piru Creek, and you can go for a hike on the Warm Springs Necktie Trail. Castaic Lake is generally

a reasonably waterless place; most of the rain falls during February, and July on the other hand is the driest. This place, Castaic Lake, it just has so much outdoors enjoyable stuff. Good hiking is available along the Devil Canyon Trail; Castaic Lake Dam has fine water scenery.
Be careful coming to the Sierra Madre, you might not ever want to go back home again. Castaic Lake is not the only location close by, Castaic Lagoon is a close by lake, and you can stay the night at Valencia Travel Village. The Sierra Madre scenery is always beautiful. Days Inn Near Six Flags-Magic Mountain is a delightful place to get some rest, and Castaic Lake RV Park is a splendid campground nearby.

Ah yes... I remember the big Jukebox. At least it was big as compared to me! I remember listening to the Rolling Stones on it as well as others....Yes, I would love to see pics of it. We used to go every year back in the 60's. They had a big jukebox and dance floor, great pool! We had so much fun !...Munz lake was a great place to camp back in the 1060's. My parents use to take us there. Fishing and a nice sized pool on the east end. I think that's all gone now. If anyone out there has pictures, could you please upload to this web site ? I'd sure appreciate it....

Hi, please take a look at the attached photo.  I took it today in La Jolla Canyon, at the water fall (dry now).  Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support.  It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above.  Someone should take a closer look at that rock.  In heavy rain it could come down.  It looks unstable....
