This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Caples Lake Campground is always a fine experience, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore nearby Kirkwood Lake. Sierra at Tahoe is a splendid local ski area; a great place to camp here at Caples Lake is Kirwood Campground. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. The top of Two Sentinels is easily seen from Caples Lake, and there       are some brilliant whitewater spots on Mokelumne River - North Fork. Caples Lake is a rather wet place regularly with a large amount of precipitation; January is the wettest month with most snow while July is mostly the driest month. Good hiking is available along the Emigrant Trail, and after a long day outdoors Harvest Inn-St Helena, Napa Valley is a good spot to spend a night or two. Man, is there plenty of cool things to do in the vicinity of Caples                  Lake. Kirkwood Creek is a pleasant site to visit, and going for a hike on the Hawley Grade Trail is always a wonderful adventure. This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Sierra Nevada. At Caples Lake during the warm months highs are in the 70's while overnight lows are frequently in the 40's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's; nighttime lows during the wintertime for Caples Lake tend to be in the 10's. This is a fine neighborhood for folks who like lakes. Twin Lakes Reservoir is a lake in the vicinity, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Gardnerville Ranchos here. This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Kirkwood is close to Caples Lake, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend American River - South Fork. But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Everybody loves Kirkwood Meadows, and a glorious nearby hotel is Pine Cone Acre Motel. If only every spot had this much outdoors amusing stuff, what a great world it would be.
