User input for Camp Far West Reservoir, Placer County, California:
Henry S.: What do the stripers bite on at Far West Lake?
Yeah well...I caught 35 bluegills, 12 channels, and 1 huge striper out of the lake two days ago, so there's no more fish to go around for you...and the best part is I caught all of that in 2 hours.
- Jeff
Terry B.: Where is the best place to catch fish?
Steve: This lake is a 7 out of 10... I say this because it's kinda empty.. not alot of trees, but the water is great... followed by the fishing.. I caught 47 bass in about 4-5 hrs of fishing with plastics, nights crawlers, and crank bait.... The cat fish bite is hot.. the good thing about this spot, no one there, lots of fish for everyone.... the camping and entry are cheap.. They even have a store where you can buy beer n snacks.

Halsey Forebay
 | 19 miles away 06-27-2009. There are no fish plants at Halsey Forebay because of a DFG settlement action with an environmental organization that filed a lawsuit. Because of this, DFG is barred from planting trout in many lakes and streams all over California including Halsey. All for the love of a red legged frog. What a joke at Halsey. Has anyone even seen a frog at this man-made impoundment??? DFG must do the research and file an Enviornmental Impact Report about the frog and the impact of the trout plants with the court, then the court may approve the replanting. FYI - Boca and Prosser are also on the list of no fish plants. See the DFG website.... |
