Camping is available at Lincoln Creek Campground, and if you get bored of Calpine Reservoir you could also visit close by Coburn Lake. Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever                  want to go back home again. Paddling on Yuba River - South Fork is so much fun; magnificent skiing awaits you at Soda Springs. This lake is so wonderful. Near Calpine Reservoir you stumble on the Cottonwood Botanical Trail which is a splendid hiking trail; a lake close by is Deadman Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There is a magnificent hiking trail near Calpine Reservoir called the Haskell Peak Trail. For the period of the summer months at Calpine Reservoir highs are regularly in the 90's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs through the winter are mostly in the 40's while Calpine Reservoir overnight low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 20's.
