If you come at the right time of year, Goose Creek offers some good whitewater, and almost certainly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Rattlesnake Lake is just a very short distance away. Bummer Lake in fact is in the       middle of a stunning outdoors paradise. Good hiking is available along the French Hill Trail. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Smith River - South Fork, and if you need a spot to stay Anchor Beach Inn is a great choice. This lake is so wonderful. A quick tour to Coon Creek in the neighborhood of Bummer Lake is a perfect idea, and why not camp at Hiouchi Hamlet RV Resort since you're here at Bummer Lake. And that's not all you can do here in the Coast Ranges.                  Redwood National and State Parks is a magnificent national park; the top of Bald Hill is easily distinguished from Bummer Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous place like Paradise Flat here at Bummer Lake is too pleasant to miss; don't leave Bummer Lake without first going for a hike along the Paradise Trail. Summertime highs at Bummer Lake mostly tend to be in the 60's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 30's to Bummer Lake. So much exciting stuff in the Coast Ranges, just remarkable. Red Alder Campground is a magnificent local campground, and at Bummer Lake you always meet someone from Crescent City North. What a place this is for outdoors folks. Playing golf is lots of fun at Del Norte Golf Course; there's great hiking along the Elk Camp Ridge Trail.
