A pleasant tour to Muse Meadow is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, and a lake close by is Chinquapin Lake. Buckhorn Lake is a beautiful lake in the Klamath Mountains. You just have to like Buckhorn Lake. If the weather is brilliant here at Buckhorn Lake, you can go for a hike along the Garden Gulch Trail, and the Marble Mountains casts its shadow over Buckhorn Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then

we recommend Salmon River. If you get bored of Buckhorn Lake, you could also pop by nearby Aspen Lake, and if you come at the right time of year, Scott River offers some magnificent whitewater. And if that's not sufficient there's plenty more exciting things to do in the Klamath Mountains. While you're here at Buckhorn Lake you can take a hike along the Tanners Peak Trail, and Buckhorn Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Indian Scotty Campground
               is a pleasant local campground.
High temperatures at Buckhorn Lake through the summer months are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 40's; nighttime lows at Buckhorn Lake during the winter generally dip into the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a location to stay Baymont Inn & Suites Yreka is a tremendous choice, and if you came to camp Spring Flat Campground is a fine place to do that. Buckhorn Lake is a wet site that gets a great deal of precipitation; December is the wettest month with most rain; the driest month is July.
Now, you may believe that's lots but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here in the Klamath Mountains. The Deacon Lee Trail is a good hiking trail next to Buckhorn Lake; on a lovely day you get a delightful vista of Boulder Peak from Buckhorn Lake.

I WALKED FROM MAIN ROAD TO TRAILHEAD ON 4-22-09. HEAVY SNOW DRIFTS, TRAILHEAD IS UNDER ABOUT 48'' OF FROZEN SNOW. NOT RECOMMENDED TO HIKE ALONE, YOU WILL SINK A DOZEN TIMES OR SO UP TO YOUR WAIST! I CHICKENED OT ABOUT 1/2 WAY UP THE TRAIL I COULDN'T SEE UNDERNEATH THE SNOW AND BOULDERS. I BET THE FISHING IS RIGHT ON!...

Looking for a place called Coffee Creek Resort in the mid-70's.   Had a lodge and A-frame cabins, you could hike a trail up to Lake Josephine from the lodge.  Hoping it is still around now that we are back in California....

Nice Lake. Nobody should be allowed to own such a thing. Didn't stop me though!...
