Good hiking is available along the Ben Duncan Mailbox Trail, and Buck Mountain Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Eel River Campground is a great local campground. Not far from Buck Mountain Lake, you'll hit upon Lowrey Lake which is a scenic lake; a fine location to camp here at Buck Mountain Lake is Boardman Ridge Campground. This lake is one of the great places here in the Coast Ranges. So many enjoyable things       in close proximity to Buck Mountain Lake, absolutely impressive. The Willow Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you yearn for a little side trip, try Brin Canyon. All the water falling down from the sky makes Buck Mountain Lake a wet site; December is when you get the most rain here; July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Coast Ranges.
