In the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - South Fork; there's great hiking along the Big Spring Trail. If only every place had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great planet it would be. This lake is so wonderful. The sight of Ellis Peak from Buck Lake is pretty. There's so much       to do here at Buck Lake that you need to camp here for a while, General Creek Campground is a nice site for that. From a rain point of view Buck Lake is a reasonably typical spot; the wettest month of the year is regularly January, that's the one that snows the most, and the driest month of the year is July. Head up to Homewood and strap some skis to your feet; Silver Creek - South Fork has a good whitewater paddling spot close by. High temperatures at Buck                  Lake through the warm days of summer are in the 70's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Buck Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. There are other spots here than Buck Lake, for example Miller Lake, and there are delightful spots to discover along the General Creek Trail. That right there is loads of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. The snow is magnificent at Alpine Meadows; you can spend the day on the beach at Lester Beach. Not far from Buck Lake, you'll discover Lily Lake which is a beautiful lake, and a day at picturesque Calawee Cove Beach close to Buck Lake is a delightful thing to do. After a long day outdoors Americas Best Value Inn Tahoe City/Lake Tahoe is a great site to spend a night or two; if you came to camp Meeks Bay Resort & Marina is a pleasant spot to do that. Man, is there heaps of enjoyable stuff to do close to Buck Lake.
