So many entertaining things to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada, too fine to be true. Here at Brown Bear Lake you can see Mount Gabb; there is a wonderful hiking trail close by called the Mammoth Rock Trail. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Mammoth Mountain if you're here, and a fine nearby hotel is Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada. But wait, there's more to do in the neighborhood of Brown Bear Lake. A tremendous site to check out in the vicinity
of Brown Bear Lake is Italy Pass; if you need a spot to stay Mammoth Creek Inn is a good choice.
It is very arid here at Brown Bear Lake commonly; the month with most of the rain is January, and June is when it's the driest. For the duration of the days of summer highs here at Brown Bear Lake get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. For the duration of the winter the highs are generally in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows

in the 20's to Brown Bear Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A lake nearby is Teddy Bear Lake; Brown Bear Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Lake Inlet Campground is a great place to camp nearby.
Whitewater paddling is great on San Joaquin River - South Fork, unsurprisingly you could also go to Lake Italy while you're here; it's not far at all. The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful.
All year is a good time in the Central Sierra Nevada if you have a thing about the outdoors. Paddling on Mono Creek is so much fun, and the Sherwin Lakes Trail is a great hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Mosquito Flat Campground is a perfect local campground, and Devils Postpile National Monument is one of the destinations that are pleasant to stop at close by.

Bear Twin Lakes
Great place to visit! A must see for all families and tourists! The awe and marvel at the beauty of the lake is indescribable! My family had an awsome experience and Joey, Anisa, and Diana ( my children) all would love to go back!  Bear Twin Lakes is not a place to miss! Just watch out for the occasional black bear!...

Jackass's Meadows Campground
11 miles away
I've been to the campground and it is a great area; however, it is NOT an arid environment as the description says.? It is located at over 7000 feet in a forested area.? In addition, there is NO access to Devils Postpile (or the Mammoth area, as is implied by the lodging links). The campground is located at the end of the road and there is no road pass over the Sierra anywhere in this area. This campground is seasonal and is snowed in completely in the winter. ...

I have never seen it in the 90's in summer (way to high for those temps), and I am sure it is a heck of lot colder than 50's in the winter...

Sabrina Campground
15 miles away
I have such fond memories of family trips to Sabrina and camping just up from the lake on the stream side. Don't know what the campground name was or even if it had a name back in thoes days. It was every summer in 1960's. First went there when I was a baby. My parents packed back in several times. Anyway, my Dad died a few months ago and he always said he wanted to go back before he died. I like to think that he is there somewhere fishing that stream by the campground that we all loved so much. Fond Fond memories....

Big Trees Campground
16 miles away
The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up....
