A good site for whitewater paddling right next door to Box Lake is San Joaquin River - South Fork; do take a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail. Do set aside some time for Mosquito       Flat if you're here at Box Lake; why not take a refreshing hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Mono Creek, and since you're here why not take a look at Mono Pass. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Central Sierra Nevada. Mount Morgan can be made out from Box Lake, and you can never get enough of the delightful skiing at Mammoth Mountain.                  This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Box Lake, you'll hit upon Chickenfoot Lake which is a beautiful lake; Devils Postpile National Monument is a very great spot to check out. Box Lake is a great location to camp, Mosquito Flat Campground is a great location, and if you need a place to stay Mammoth Creek Inn is a good choice. Box Lake is located in the Central Sierra Nevada. That right there is a heap already, but it goes on; Box Lake has it all. Stay the night at Lake Inlet Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Mammoth Lakes Travelodge. Summertime highs at Box Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's.
