Bonnie Lake is right by the Pacific Crest Trail - section 12. Stay the night at Pacific Crest Trail Trailcamp 983.3 - Stubblefield Canyon, and the Early Emigrant and Indian Trail offers hiking at its best.
A great nearby backcountry trail featuring a variation in altitude of 2,323 feet is Early Emigrant and Indian Trail,
    a perfect 7.6-mile-long backcountry walk. There's no more excellent way to spend one day than to backcountry walk the difficult Early Emigrant and Indian Trail.
