At Blue Lake during the summer months highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 40's. Through the winter highs are in the 40's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Blue Lake descend into the 20's. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff truly is plentiful here in the Southern Cascade Range. | | splendid hiking trail. If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Southern Cascade Range. If you came to camp Old Cow Creek Campground is a pleasant place to do that. Blue Lake is one of the lakes here in the Southern Cascade Range. Lakes are such calm spots, why not visit Seven Lakes in the neighborhood of Blue Lake, and Blue Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Cutter Place Campground is a fine local campground. | |

Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Pit River, and at Blue Lake you can observe Clover Mountain. Any time is a fine time at Blue Lake if you adore the outdoors. There is a magnificent
hiking trail in close proximity to Blue Lake called the Pacific Crest Trail - section 17; you'll come across a picturesque lake called Arthur Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Lassen Volcanic National Park is one of the destinations
near Blue Lake that are nice to go to, and going for a hike on the Nelson Flat Trail is always a good adventure. A lot of rain falls at Blue Lake; most of the rain falls during January while July is ordinarily the driest month.

Pacific Crest Trail - section 17
 | 16 miles away Roundtrip Distance 11.8 miles Elevation Gain 2,702 ft. This peak is trailless, meaning a portion or all of the route up the mountain is via an unmarked trail. For this particular mountain, the typical route is known as a ''herd path'' which is not much more than a worn, but unmarked trail. Some of the herd paths are easy to follow, others are not. In many instances the hiker will travel down a false herd path and eventually have to correct his/her course via backtracking. For these particular mountains, it is imperative that the hiker carry a compass (and know how to use it) and topographic map.... |
