The John Muir Trail - section 2 is a pleasant hiking trail near Blue Lake, and you can stay the night at Saddlebag Campground. Do have a look at Virginia Lakes in the vicinity of Blue Lake, it's a scenic lake. There's so much to do here at Blue Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Sawmill Campground is a great site for that. On a great day at Blue Lake you can take a hike along the       Pacific Crest Trail - section 12; a brilliant nearby hotel is Heidelberg Inn. At Blue Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month of the year is October. During the summer here at Blue Lake, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's, and through the night it cools down to the 30's. For the duration of the winter highs are usually in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Blue                  Lake are in the 0's. But wait, there's more amusing stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. Blue Lake is located in the Central Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. Black Mountain is a peak you can make out from Blue Lake, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Gaylor Lakes Trail.
