Turnaround Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out, and the Lassen Trail offers hiking at its best. And that's not all the things to do here in the Southern Cascade Range. A great location to camp here at Black Lake is Rocky Knoll Campground, and Black Lake is right by the Childs Meadows Trail. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Bailey Creek Cottages is a good place to spend a       night or two, and there's great hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 16. During the warmest time of the year here at Black Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 90's with night lows in the 40's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Black Lake are in the 20's. Just can't get enough of the Southern Cascade Range. That right there is lots already, but it continues; Black Lake                  has it all. A journey to Lassen Volcanic National Park is worthwhile, and Black Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Silver Bowl Campground is a great local campground. Black Lake is pretty dried out usually; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain; the driest month of the year is July.
