This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Kings River Trail is always a perfect adventure, and a tremendous nearby hotel is Super 8 Bishop. And that's not all you can do here at Black Lake. Do set aside some time for Sam Mack Meadow while you're here at Black Lake, and there are fine sites to look at along the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section. At Black Lake all through the summer highs are in the 90's while night lows are regularly in the 50's.

| | Through the wintertime highs are usually in the 50's while Black Lake night low temperatures throughout the winter are in the 20's. A magnificent place to visit next to Black Lake is Contact Pass; soar down the rapids of Kings River - Middle Fork in a kayak. From Black Lake you obtain a great sight of Mount Alice, and do pay a visit to Devils Postpile National Monument since you're here at Black Lake. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things | |

in the Central Sierra Nevada. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Black Lake has to offer, you can camp at Second Falls Campground, and if you need a spot to stay Days Inn Bishop is a nice choice. This lake is one
of the great places here in the Central Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Black Lake without first going for a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11, and do check out Fourth Lake, it's a stunning lake.
So much enjoyable stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada, just inspiring. There's so much to do here at Black Lake that you need to camp here for a while, First Falls Campground is a nice place for that, and a pretty lake like Summit
Lake is a tremendous place to stop by. It is very dried up here at Black Lake ordinarily; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain while June is typically the driest month.

Sabrina Campground
 | I have such fond memories of family trips to Sabrina and camping just up from the lake on the stream side. Don't know what the campground name was or even if it had a name back in thoes days. It was every summer in 1960's. First went there when I was a baby. My parents packed back in several times. Anyway, my Dad died a few months ago and he always said he wanted to go back before he died. I like to think that he is there somewhere fishing that stream by the campground that we all loved so much. Fond Fond memories.... |
Big Trees Campground
 | The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up.... |
