In case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Joaquin River - Middle Fork, and camping is available at Trailer Park Campground. All through the months of summer here at Billy Lake, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 90's with night lows in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's while the       cold winter nights at Billy Lake are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. Very picturesque scenery and magnificent skiing is what you get at Mammoth Mountain; going for a hike along the Gaylor Lakes Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. And that's not all there is to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada. Why not camp at Grant Lake Marina-campground while you're here at Billy Lake, and hiking along the John Muir Trail - section                  2 is tremendous fun. Some close by water includes Crest Creek. Lakes are pleasant; Gem Lake is a lake that's near Billy Lake. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. What would winter be without some skiing at June Mountain; naturally, A journey to Agnew Pass is always fun. From a rainfall point of view Billy Lake is a rather common location; all through the month of January you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is June. So much fun stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada, just impressive. After a long day outdoors Mammoth Mountain Inn is a pleasant site to spend a night or two, and if the weather is nice, you can go for a hike along the Mammoth Rock Trail.
