A journey to Hole in the Ground Spring will fill your soul with wonderful feelings, and not far from Big Springs Lake you'll hit upon Cloak Lake which is a pretty lake. Big Springs Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Trailer Lane RV Park is a wonderful local campground; there are other locations here than Big Springs Lake, for example Cedar Lake. There's some flowing water nearby, Hole in the Ground Creek is a stream you can check out while you're here, and splendid skiing awaits you at Mount Shasta. Near Big Springs Lake you locate the Sisson Calahan National Recreation Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and camping at Hi-lo Motel and RV Park is always a glorious experience. the month that gets the most rain while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime highs at Big Springs Lake commonly tend to be in the 90's. Summer night lows sink down to the 50's. All through the wintertime
the highs are mostly in the 40's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Big Springs Lake dip into the 20's. But wait, there's more to do close to Big Springs Lake. The Pacific Crest Trail - section 18 is a great
hiking trail near Big Springs Lake, and whitewater paddling is splendid on Sacramento River. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Central is a delightful site to spend a night or two, and going for a hike on the Castle Lake Trail is always a good adventure.

For this particular mountain, the typical route is known as a ''herd path'' which is not much more than a worn, but unmarked trail. Some of the herd paths are easy to follow, others are not.
