Take a hike on the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Big Pothole Lake has to offer, you can camp at Symmes Creek Campground. You'll discover a lovely lake called Heart Lake near Big Pothole Lake. There's so much to do here at Big Pothole Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Fort Independence Campground is a brilliant spot for that. Around Big Pothole Lake you don’t get       a lot of rain; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. Big Pothole Lake is one of the lakes here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Just can't get enough of the Southern Sierra Nevada. A wonderful nearby hotel is Best Western Frontier Motel. If you love the outdoors, you'll go for Big Pothole Lake. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Big Pothole Lake; Pacific Crest Trail - section 11 is a delightful local                  trail, and the peak of Dragon Peak can be seen from Big Pothole Lake. And that's not all there is to do here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Do stop by Golden Trout Lake next to Big Pothole Lake, it's a wonderful lake, and don't leave Big Pothole Lake without first checking out Kearsarge Pinnacles. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Mount Whitney Trail; Kearsarge Pass is close by, and is a great place. At Big Pothole Lake during the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. During the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 50's.
