If you came for an overnight stay Cave Lake Campground is a magnificent place to camp; the Crane Mountain National Recreation Trail offers hiking at its best. Big Mud Lake gets very little precipitation; December is the wettest month with most snow; July on the other hand is the driest. Summertime highs at Big Mud Lake generally tend to be in the 80's while overnight lows are ordinarily in the 40's.       High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Big Mud Lake descend into the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Big Mud Lake is right by the Highgrade Trail, and camping is available at Larry Flat Campground.
