than a day at, Upper Vermillion Campground is a splendid local campground.
There are wonderful spots to explore along the Red Mountain Trail, and there's whitewater on San Joaquin River - South Fork for all you adrenaline junkies. That right there is loads of entertaining stuff already but it goes on, the Central Sierra Nevada has it all. The snow is pleasant at Mammoth Mountain, and Snowcreek Resort is a pleasant place to get some rest. You definitely have

This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Sierra Summit is next to Big Margaret Lake. Lakes? Sure, Bathtub Lake is close by. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Mono Creek. Be careful coming to the Central Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to go back home again. If you haven’t been to Devils Postpile National Monument, you must schedule some time for it if you're here; there are other sites here than Big Margaret Lake, for example Fern Lake.
Big Margaret Lake is mostly a reasonably dried up spot; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and June is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. From Big Margaret Lake you obtain a delightful panorama of Cockscomb; after a long day outdoors Bigwood is a tremendous spot to spend a night or two.
