The Grouse Creek Tractor Trail is a great hiking trail next to Big Lake. So many entertaining things near Big Lake, definitely phenomenal. Nearby lakes? Sure, Lake Mountain is in the neighborhood of Big Lake, and if you're here, you might as well go to Box Canyon. This lake is so wonderful. Bidden Creek is a pleasant spot to visit, and Big Lake is not far at all from Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna. You should positively have a look at       China Slide since you're here at Big Lake; why not camp at Gray Falls Campground while you're here at Big Lake. Get drenched paddling on Trinity River - South Fork; there is a pleasant hiking trail nearby called the Blake Trail. Big Lake usually gets a good deal of rain; December is the wettest month with most rain, and the driest month of the year is July. Big Lake is a beautiful lake in the Coast Ranges. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Coast Ranges.                  You could also explore Hidden Lake since you're here at Big Lake; it's close by, and on a glorious day you can take a hike along the Dan East Trail.
