What a nice lake Big Lake is. These mountains rock, just explore all the fun things to do in the Coast Ranges. Don't leave Big Lake without first going for a hike along the Dan East Trail; while you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Eureka-Arcata-Fortuna. Big Lake sees pretty high levels of precipitation; through December this area sees the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. Whitewater paddling is wonderful on Trinity River, and

| | not far from Big Lake you'll come across Hidden Lake which is a picturesque lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Get dripping wet paddling on Trinity River - South Fork, and since you're here at Big Lake, checking out China Slide is a must. What a site this is for outdoors people. The Blake Trail offers hiking at its best; you could always explore Box Canyon.

hiking along the Grouse Creek Tractor Trail, and Big Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Slide Creek Campground is a fine local campground. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Coast
Ranges. Some of the water close by flows, like Bidden Creek. There's so much to do here at Big Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Gray Falls Campground is a splendid place for that.
For the period of the warmest time
of the year highs here at Big Lake get into the 90's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 50's while Big Lake overnight low temperatures during the winter are in the 30's.
